The Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost
Prayer and Preaching
The unrelenting mercy of God seeks out the foremost sinner of men. In all unlikely circumstances, God’s shepherding vigilance is persistent. One lost sheep requires the Lord’s attention. One lost coin requires a woman’s diligence. Wayward sinners ensnared in ignorance and worldly values necessitate the unrivaled strength of Christ Jesus. By His grace, sinners are found and saved. By His mercy, sinful opposition is assuaged with perfect patience and forgiveness. Rejoice!
Readings
Ezekiel 34:11-24

Collect of the Day
Blessed Lord, You have caused all Holy Scriptures to be written for our learning. Grant that we may so hear them, read, mark, learn, and take them to heart that, by the patience and comfort of Your holy Word, we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
