The Day of Pentecost + Confirmation  Divine Service

The Scriptures this day witness the remarkable releasing of the Holy Spirit.  The mighty works of God are declared in countless languages.  Fire blazes mysteriously above the disciples’ heads.  Outrageous confusion, mayhem, and chaos pave the way for global mission, ministry, and confession.  The Holy Spirit teaches all things, equipping preachers to preach and people to listen.  He is the Divine Helper, instilling within the church an unrelenting confession of Jesus and His deeds of mercy and redemption.

Collect of the Day
O God, on this day You once taught the hearts of Your faithful people by sending them the light of Your Holy Spirit. Grant us in our day by the same Spirit to have a right understanding in all things and evermore to rejoice in His holy consolation; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
