Meet Mrs. Heise

Mrs. Heise graduated from Purdue North Central in 2010. She is married with four children. Mrs. Heise’s favorite color is pink.
She enjoys reading and spending time with her kids (we like to walk and swim). Mrs. Heise’s favorite Bible verse: Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Her Special school memory is singing in the Christmas programs in grade school.

Decorah Eagles

The first and second grade classes have begun to watch the Decorah Eagles as they guard their three eggs that have been laid in the nest they have been preparing for the last month.  We have seen the mom get up and roll the eggs.  We have been watching them each day and we can’t wait until they hatch.

Songs of Encouragement

Click “Trading My Sorrows” to watch the song performed by the 7th and 8th graders.

On Sunday, November 17th, the lives of many were changed forever because of the devastating tornadoes that struck Illinois and Indiana.  One congregation that was affected was St. John Lutheran Church in New Minden, Illinois.  This is the home congregation of our 7th and 8th grade teacher.  Students at St. Peter Lutheran School made encouragement cards and have been praying those affected by the storms.

On the day before Thanksgiving, students gathered together to sing “Fear Not!” as a message of encouragement to the people of St. John.  May the words of the song also encourage anyone experiencing a storm in life to remember that God is always with you.

The song is based on the words of Isaiah 43:1-2 —— “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are Mine.  When you pass through the waters; I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.  When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”

The 7th and 8th graders also shared the song “Trading My Sorrows”  which encourages all to remember that the joy of the Lord uplifts us in our times of struggles.

First Day of School Letter

Here is the letter sent home on the first day of school with this week’s Memory Verse.

First Day of School Letter

Field trip

The first and second graders along with many adult chaperons had a fun day at the Indiana Dunes State Park despite the cool temperatures on Friday, May 10.  Officer Torsell shared what conservation officers do and what was in his mobile office. We then hiked a trail with three major dune climbs to see Lake Michigan. We exited the trail and went down to the beach. As we walked back to the pavilion, we saw drift wood, many flat stones, and mussel shells. We ate lunch in one of the many picnic shelters before spending some time at the Nature Center. Due to time constraints we did not get to climb Mt. Baldy but did get to see this huge sand dune with no vegetation growing on top of it before heading back to school . We had a fabulous day outdoors learning about God’s beautiful creation.

Wind Vanes

This week we began our science unit on weather by studying tools that scientists use to observe the weather.  Then we created our own wind vanes to determine the direction from which the wind was blowing.  We talked about how we can’t see the wind, but we can see what the wind does.  In the same way, we can’t see God, but we can see the things He does.
