Meet Mrs. Bope

Mrs. Bope attended Manchester College in Manchester, IN to earn her K-6 teaching degree.  She also attended Ball State University to earn a degree in special education.  Her husband, Billy Bope,  is the pastor at Global Harvest Church and also farms in Starke County.  Together they have two children, Caleb and Hannah.  Their children are members of the Indiana High School Rodeo team which involves traveling and competing against other high schoolers throughout the Midwest.
Mrs. Bope enjoys reading, horseback riding, and camping.  Her favorite color is red, and her favorite memory verse is Romans 8:28  “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purposes.”   Mrs. Bope’s special memory from her school years was being a part of the high school girl’s basketball team that won the very first sectional in school’s history.

On Sunday, November 17th, the lives of many were changed forever because of the devastating tornadoes that struck Illinois and Indiana.  One congregation that was affected was St. John Lutheran Church in New Minden, Illinois.  This is the home congregation of our 7th and 8th grade teacher.  Students at St. Peter Lutheran School made encouragement cards and have been praying those affected by the storms.

On the day before Thanksgiving, students gathered together to sing “Fear Not!” as a message of encouragement to the people of St. John.  May the words of the song also encourage anyone experiencing a storm in life to remember that God is always with you.

The song is based on the words of Isaiah 43:1-2 —— “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are Mine.  When you pass through the waters; I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.  When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”

The 7th and 8th graders also shared the song “Trading My Sorrows”  which encourages all to remember that the joy of the Lord uplifts us in our times of struggles.
