Mrs. Rebecca Wenzler is our third & fourth grade teacher. She graduated from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN with a  Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She began teaching at St. Peter in 2014 and is also in charge of the library. She and her husband Matt married in July 2014 and traveled to Ireland for their honeymoon. They have since welcomed a little girl into their family. Mrs. Wenzler enjoys walking, watching movies, reading, spending time with family and friends

Favorite color: Pink

Favorite Bible verse: Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Favorite school memory: My fourth grade teacher was teaching us about making good predictions. He had us predict when we thought the first snow would be that year based on the weather patterns we had been observing. It snowed on the day I had predicted. As a reward, my teacher took me to McDonalds for lunch.

Songs of Encouragement

Click  “Fear Not! For I Am With You!” to watch the song performed by the whole school.

Click “Trading My Sorrows” to watch the song performed by the 7th and 8th graders.

On Sunday, November 17th, the lives of many were changed forever because of the devastating tornadoes that struck Illinois and Indiana.  One congregation that was affected was St. John Lutheran Church in New Minden, Illinois.  This is the home congregation of our 7th and 8th grade teacher.  Students at St. Peter Lutheran School made encouragement cards and have been praying those affected by the storms.

On the day before Thanksgiving, students gathered together to sing “Fear Not!” as a message of encouragement to the people of St. John.  May the words of the song also encourage anyone experiencing a storm in life to remember that God is always with you.

The song is based on the words of Isaiah 43:1-2 —— “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are Mine.  When you pass through the waters; I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.  When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”

The 7th and 8th graders also shared the song “Trading My Sorrows”  which encourages all to remember that the joy of the Lord uplifts us in our times of struggles.
