Academic Challenge (Grades 4-5)

Students in fourth and fifth grades have the opportunity each spring to participate in the Academic Challenge for fourth and fifth graders. This competion is held in April or May at St. John Lutheran School in LaPorte. This Challenge is for teams of students with questions in the areas of Math, Language Arts, Science, History, Religion, and Potpourri.

Students in sixth, seventh, and eighth grades have the opportunity each fall to participate in the Academic Challenge for middle school students. This competion is held in November at Immanuel Lutheran School in Valparaiso. This Challenge is for teams of students with questions in the areas of Math, Language Arts, Science, History, Religion, and Potpourri.

Practices begin in January, and the competition is generally held at LaPorte High School the last Saturday in April. The students are divided up into teams of Science, English, Math, Social Studies, and Interdisciplinary. This is a statewide competion sponsored by the Indiana Association of School Principals.
