Sunday
Sunday evening began with some "Would You Rather..." Things like: be told you have a booger hanging from your nose, or that you have bad breath; pet a porcupine or lick a cactus; be blind or deaf. That was followed by "This is Your Life: NOAH" Noah was there to comment on a few of the things he did throughout his life (check out the video). After Noah had to leave we went through our Bible lesson which included someone figuring out if Adam's 930 years on earth included Noah's birth (it didn't). Then we played Guess the Leader, had a snack, and played Detective to end the evening.
Monday
Monday began with a little Ark building. Each day we'll do a little work on our own 6ft ark. MUCH MUCH smaller than the one Noah built, but we're hoping to complete ours in a few days versus the year it took Noah. Then we saw a timeline of how long Noah and his family were on the ark using toilet paper as an example. Each square was one day and we almost went from one end of the hallway to the other 378 days on the Ark. Then we went upstairs for our lesson. We talked about God's grace in saving Noah and his family. We also did a lot of speculating about the Ark's construction. Then we played "Fish Attack". Three volunteers had thier faces covered in peaunut butter and gold fish crackers. Check out the pictures and viceo! Then we had a snack-can you guess what we had? Then the youth leaders - Jim, Chris, and Robyn (Mrs. Skibbe was the "host") were contestants on "To Tell The Truth" Not a single person believed Robyn was telling the truth but she was!
Tuesday
Tuesday we continued our Ark construction. The bottom was assembled and braced. Our lesson for the evening told about the many versions of the story of the flood across the world. We talked about the faith that Noah and his family had and also all the details that God gave to Noah about the animals. After our lesson we played "King Elephant". Everyone playing was cracking up the whole time we played. Then we had animal crackers with frosting for a snack. After our snack we played a round of Trigger and then 2 rounds of Detective.
Wednesday
Wednesday we completed our Ark. The lesson for the day was about all the flood waters. Water from above, water from below, there was water everywhere! We talked about God saving the world through water vs. destroying the world. What a way to view the story of the flood. After our lesson we played "River Cross". The girls' team quickly made it across thier own way. We then had our snack. We wrapped up the evening with a variety of other games: Mangle Tangle, and Detective. The group also put themselves in birthday order without talking. Almost got it right!
Thursday
Thursday we watched a video talking about the ark's construction. The evening's devotion was about God's promises. We talked about the true meaning behind rainbows. Our snack for the evening was popsicles. Everyone went home with a bag of Skittles too. Our games for the night were "Holey Cup" and Psychiatrist. It was a fun end to a fun week.
Quotes from the week:
Do you wanna borrow my glasses?
Did the slippers give it away?
AHHHH CHOOO!
I feel like a pretty butterfly.
But I want to be an owl!
12 different young people joined us, throughout the week, for Super Sized VBS.
We look forward to next year and lots more fun.
